Damn you take home exam…damn you

I hate take home exams with all my heart. Seriously.

Originally it was supposed to be an in class exam-multiple choice. Easy enough. No big deal. When I got to class last week all prepared to take a test I found out that it had become a take home exam. A take home exam that requires seven pages of answered essay questions to be completed.

Also I heart uneventful weekends that I’ve spent feeling poorly physically.

Also I had an epiphany today. The absolute perfect job for me right now when I’m trying to get my ass through school would be an apt. manager somewhere. Seriously. It would be perfect. Most often they provide free rent even, not just reduced (along with a salary of course). I just might start looking for something like this. Just to see what’s out there.

If it were up to me

Everyone would be required to watch What The Bleep Do We Know.

There is no such thing as good or bad; we make things good or bad (I already knew that).

Most of us trap ourselves into an existence believing that there is no other…when actually there are millions of possible existences.

Everything we don’t want to know keeps us trapped where we are.

I’m going to start creating my own day/life/emotions rather than allowing other things to create them for me.

Quantum physics rules. :)

Thursday Thirteen #3

Thirteen Reasons Why I Love My Sadie Girl

There IS of course many more (try like a million)…I’ll do my best to figure out the top thirteen though. (The next one will be about Lola…and then of course I can’t forget Bay).

1. Shower: Every morning when I take a shower she comes in the bathroom and lays in front of the shower/tub. I still haven’t figured out if it’s because she just likes being near me, is protecting me, or is just making sure I won’t forget to feed her before I leave (like I’d forget…but I’m sure she just needs to make sure).

2. Sleeping: She never…ever…wakes me up before I’m ready. I trained her this way. Unless for some reason she gets ill in the middle of the night, she always allows me to sleep until I’m ready to wake up (waking me up when she’s sick is always perfectly okay obviously, because this sometimes happens). I hear so many stories from people about their dogs waking them up at like 5am just because the dog is ready to get up…I’m totally the head of my household.

3. Cuddles: We started our relationship when she was 6 months old and I saved her from PAWS. At the tender age of 6 months I taught her to cuddle (aka…spoon). She still does it to this day…it’s freaked some of my ex’s out, but oh well.

4. We Were Meant To Be: PAWS allows people to put holds on animals for a maximum of 24 hours (to allow for talking to landlords, roommates, family members, etc. about introducing a dog into a household). One has to be there in person in order to ‘put a hold’ on an animal. For some reason, it just so happened that every time I tried to go up there to put a hold on her someone else beat me to it (a total of three times to be exact). Due to this I thought for sure that someone would take her home before I could…they didn’t (WHY, I don’t know, because she was one of the most quiet, most playful and kind dogs there at the time). I got there on a weekend to adopt her…the women working there wanted her to go to a home so badly and trusted me so much that they fudged about having talked to my landlord (because they’re required to when it’s an apt. so the dog won’t end up coming back because some idiot adopts a dog when their apt. rules plainly state no pets) just so she could go home with me. I was even afraid to tell them that I lived in an apt because I thought they wouldn’t let me have a dog that big in an apt instead of a house…apparently the poor girl had spent most of her life to that point out in the backyard constantly by herself so they said that an apt where she could feel secure that it was her space/home would be perfect for her. I think I made a total of 4-5 trips up to Lynnwood trying adopt her and it actually paid off…they could tell I really wanted her.

5. My Nephew: When I adopted her my nephew was maybe 2, possibly younger. He is the reason I wanted a labrador…they’re patient, friendly, and gentle when it comes to kids. She has always been different with him than any adult…when it comes to me holding a toy to throw for her, she has no reservations about attempting to knock me over if I take too long to throw the toy. She would never do the same to my nephew, because he’s little and she gets that.

6. Speech: She “talks” to me. Seriously…in her own doggie language (consisting of various toned whines and quiet barks) she “talks” to me on a consistent basis. The funny part about it is that I get what she’s saying when she “talks” to me (if that makes me sound crazy then so be it).

7. Webbed Feet: It wasn’t until about a month or so after I got her that my dad mentioned something about her webbed feet. I really didn’t get what the heck he was talking about (because I didn’t do a whole lot of reading about her breed)..until I felt her feet. They were built for swimming…she actually does have webbed feet. It’s one of the cutest things ever.

8. Protective: The first time she did this I was living in Mountlake Terrace. It was maybe a few months after I got her. I was taking her out one night at about 10pm or so…she heard someone walking in the complex across the way and promptly got right in front of me, sat down and started growling. It was soooo cute. She was the first dog in my life where I was her primary human relationship and it was so awesome when I realized that she was protective of me. She still is to this day.

9. Happy: She is always happy. Always. She’s happy when I get home, she’s happy when it’s time to play, she’s happy when it’s time to walk, she’s happy when it’s time to sleep, she’s happy when it’s time to swim or go to the park, she’s happy when she wakes up, she’s happy when it’s time to eat. She’s happy ALL the time. Selfishly, it makes me happy that I can make her happy.

10. Loyalty: She’s the most loyal dog ever. Seriously.

11. Car Rides: Whenever we go somewhere in the car together and I have to get out of the car for uno momento she promptly sits in the driver’s seat (cause it’s the seat that I just vacated…she also sits there the entire time I’m gone). The best part really…is that when she sees that I’m returning to the car she also promptly moves out of the driver’s seat so that I can take it back.

12. Naps: She takes naps with me…seriously. Usually when she knows that it’s a nap-time instead of sleep time she sleeps on some part of my body. It’s either her head on my neck, or her head on my back, or as close as she can get to me while lying next to me. It’s the cutest thing EVER!

13. Costumes: She is the most patient dog ever. She has sat through wearing a bee costume for Halloween one year and even a pirate costume in a parade once. Most dogs would say “f-that”, but she loves me so much that she sits patiently through it.

I love that dog. Truly.

I’m quoting another blog

When I say that it is ‘Painful To Watch’ (Feministing). And I agree that painful and sick as it is that this is what goes on, it’s important.

Be sure to watch the video that they post with it; but only if you aren’t easily upset or shocked.
